The city is located about 15 km south of the Mayan ruins of El Mirador , with which the Nakba was connected to the Sacbé, the so-called expressway of the ancient Maya. During the late classical period, the city was also connected to the Sakbe with another Mayan settlement - Kalakmul .

The region where the Nakba is located was inhabited around 1400 BC. e., the heyday of the city falls on the time interval from 800 to 400 years BC. e., during which the Nakba is the first major city of the Maya. The beginning of the architectural development of the city falls on the period between 1000 and 800 years BC. er

Nakbe was found in 1930, but its archaeological research began only in 1962.

A huge amount of ceramics, pots, figurines and other utensils was found in Nakba. The finds of shells and obsidian speak of a developed transport and trading system, since shells were found in remote areas of the road to the city. Trade was, presumably, one of the main activities of the city.

The buildings in Nakba are conditionally divided into two groups - east and west. The largest building, 48 m high, is located in the western part of the city, stands on a platform 7 m high. There are seven masks on the walls. The size of the largest Mayan deity is 11 m wide and 5 m high.
