Aleksandr Andreyevich Tikhonov (born May 4, 1988 , Miass , Chelyabinsk Region ) is a Russian swimmer , a member of the Russian national team since 2004 . Participant in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the 2012 London Olympic Games .
Bronze medalist of the European Championships in short water ( 2007 ), Vice-champion of Europe in the relay 4 Γ 200 meters freestyle ( 2008 ), 12-time Champion of Russia in swimming. Master of Sports of Russia of international class (2006) [1] .

Biography
Training of Alexander Tikhonov began from a young age. His first mentor and coach was his mother - Honored Coach of Russia Elena Aleksandrovna Tikhonova . Since 2003, Sasha continued his training at the Olympic Training Center.
In 2004, Alexander Tikhonov joined the Russian National Team, and continued to train with his mother. In 2005, the swimmer took part in the II summer Spartakiad of Russian students. The athlete perfectly demonstrated his abilities and won 1st place at a two-hundred-meter distance.
In 2007, Alexander won another first place in the Russian Championship at distances of 200 and 400 meters with integrated swimming. In the same year he became the bronze medalist of the European Championships in short water.
In 2008, at the Russian Championships, the swimmer again repeats his achievements of the past year. And he shows himself perfectly at the European Championship, taking 2nd place in the relay, 4x200 meters freestyle.

At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, Alexander performed at the distances of 200 and 400 m integrated swimming. Unfortunately, the young Russian athlete did not bring any medals with him, but set another personal record: 400 meters with integrated swimming - 4: 16.49, 200 meters with integrated swimming - 2: 01.21.
