History

On May 22, 1931, Pope Pius XI issued the bull Munus regendi , which established the territorial prelature of Jurua, isolating it from the apostolic prefecture of Tefe (today - the Territorial prelature of Tefe ).

On June 25, 1987, Pope John Paul II issued the bull Cum praelatura , which transformed the territorial prelature of Jurua into the diocese of Cruzeiro do Sul.
