“Arctica” ( Russian “Arctic” ) is the second single of the Finnish symphonic power metal band Amberian Dawn from the third studio album End of Eden . The single, like the previous one, consists of one composition. The single became available for free download on MySpace on August 23, 2010. [1] On October 20, a video for the song appeared on YouTube . [2] A vocalist and songwriter, Heidi Parviainen called “Arctica” her favorite song, Amberian Dawn. [3]

Video clip
The video was shot in 2010 and came out simultaneously with End of Eden , the band’s third studio album. This is the fourth Amberian Dawn video clip after “ River of Tuoni ”, “ My Only Star ” and “ He Sleeps in a Grove ”. The video is produced by Routafilmi and directed by Marcus Nieminen. The clip tells the story of an alchemist who is trying to freeze a magic amulet. When he succeeds, the background against which the group speaks changes color (from blood-red tones to white-blue). Criticism
“Arctica” as a whole has become a worthy successor to the songs of the group on which they emphasized (“River of Tuoni” and “He Sleeps in a Grove”) [4] , but has also been criticized for repeating. HeavyLaw notes: “The first single“ Arctica “is in some way an indication of plagiarism by ourselves. Extremely predictable, it does not show fairly fairly all the talent of the group. ” [5] Metal Sickness called the song too catchy and one of the band's darkest songs, along with Talisman . [6]
