Biography
Born December 13 (26), 1913 in the village of Cherkasskoye, now the city of Zimogorye, Lugansk Region of Ukraine, in a working class family. Ukrainian. After graduating from junior high school, he worked in Crimea as an accountant in the Artek sanatorium .
In the Red Army since 1935. In 1938 he graduated from the Kharkov Military Technical School and courses of command staff. At the front in World War II from November 1941. Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1942.
The commander of the 169th Guards Rifle Regiment (1st Guards Rifle Division, 11th Guards Army, 3rd Belorussian Front ) of the Guard Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Ivannikov skillfully led the operations of the units of the rifle regiment entrusted to him during the East Prussian offensive operation in 1945 to master the fortified city of Königsberg (now the city of Kaliningrad ).
On April 6, 1945, the regiment, under the command of the guard of Lieutenant Colonel A. Ivannikov, went to its outskirts, and the next day took possession of the tram depot and started a battle for the South Railway Station.
On the night of April 8, 1945, the soldiers of the 3rd battalion of the 169th Guards Rifle Regiment were the first to break into the station building and occupy it. After that, the regiment continued its offensive to the city center.
Having crossed the Pregel River , guardsmen stormed the Royal Castle for more than three hours.
Guard Lieutenant Colonel Ivannikov A.M. distinguished himself by clearly commanding the regiment in the battle for the city and the Pillau naval base (now the city of Baltiysk, Kaliningrad Region).
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 5, 1945, for the skillful command of the rifle regiment, courage and heroism shown in the fight against Nazi invaders, the guard, Lieutenant Colonel Ivannikov Alexander Mikhailovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal ( No. 5371).
The 169th Guards Rifle Regiment was awarded the Order of the Red Banner.
After the war, A. M. Ivannikov continued to serve in the army. In 1947, he graduated from the Shot courses . Since 1955, Colonel Ivannikov A.M. is in stock.
He lived and worked in the former capital of Kazakhstan, Alma-Ata (now Almaty). He died on March 16, 1974.
