[1] There is an airport terminal with free parking, equipped with a parking space heating system (for a fee). The journey time by taxi to Mikkeli is 10 - 15 minutes. The terminal has a conference room for 5–15 visitors, vending machines for coffee and soft drinks, a room for mother and child [4] . Near the airport there are golf courses and the industrial area of Tuscu [5]
In addition, the airport is used for military purposes, since in Mikkeli it is located the command of the Eastern direction of the Finnish Defense Forces, as well as the headquarters of the Ground Forces [5] . The airport’s website claims that it has, among other things, great strategic importance [6]
For charter flights wishing to arrive at Mikkeli Airport from outside the European Union, it is necessary to obtain permission from the Finnish customs authorities at least 24 hours before the estimated time of arrival. It should also be borne in mind that the airport does not have reserves of some types of aviation fuel [4] .
