Biography

Florian Kotsyubynsky was born February 24, 1921 in Kazan , in the family of Irina Kotsyubynska, the youngest daughter of the writer Mikhail Kotsyubynsky , and Abram Metrik-Danishevsky. In 1922, the family of Florian Kotsyubinsky returned to Ukraine, lived in the cities of Volochisk , Gorodok , Proskurov . In 1930, the family moved to Poltava , where Abram Danishevsky worked in the district prosecutor's office. Subsequently, the family moved to Kharkov , and then to Kiev . In Kiev, Florian studied at an art studio, in 1939 , after graduation, he was drafted into the army .

He participated in the Winter War of 1940 (Finnish Front), in the Great Patriotic War (Western Belarus, Bryansk and 2nd Baltic Fronts). He fought in the Air Force , in the battalion of airfield services, and ended the war with the rank of lieutenant. Demobilized in 1946 . In the same year, Florian Kotsyubynsky entered the Kiev Art Institute . His teacher was Mikhail Lysenko , fellow practitioners Anatoly Belostotsky , Galina Kalchenko , Semyon Andreichenko and others.

After graduating from the institute in 1952, he taught sculpture at the Kiev Art School for some time, then studied at the graduate school at the Faculty of Philosophy (the so-called "Marxist-Leninist aesthetics"), which, however, did not finish, directing efforts to practical activities.

Florian Kotsyubinsky died in Kiev on March 25, 1991, was buried in Chernigov , at the Yatsevo cemetery.
