Biography

Valery Georgievich Zerenkov was born on August 13, 1948 in the city of Izobilny, Stavropol Territory . After graduating from the Stavropol Agricultural Institute in 1977 with a degree in mechanical engineering in agriculture, he worked as an apprentice electrician, and then as an electrician, senior foreman, deputy chief and workshop manager at the Stavropol Automobile Trailers Plant.

Since 1982, Valery Georgievich worked as head of the department of mechanization and construction, deputy manager of the trust "Stavropolgrazhdanstroy." In 1987, on a competitive basis, was elected director of the convoy.

Valery Zerenkov began his political career in 1989 , when he was elected chairman of the executive committee of the Oktyabrsky District Council of People's Deputies of the city of Stavropol. In December 1991, Zerenkov was appointed head of the administration of the Oktyabrsky district of Stavropol .

From 1994 to 1998, he served as chairman of the State Duma of the Stavropol Territory [4] [5] . As the head of the legislative body of a constituent entity of the Russian Federation , he was a member of the Federation Council [6] . He was a member of the Committee of the Council of the Federation on budget, tax policy, financial, currency and customs regulation, banking. In 1996 he graduated in absentia from Moscow State Social University with a degree in law.

From 1998 to 2011, he worked as the General Director of the Stavropol Center for Standardization, Metrology and Certification.

On December 4, 2011, Valery Zerenkov was elected as a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation of the VI convocation as part of the federal list of candidates nominated by the All-Russian political party United Russia . Member of the faction "United Russia" ( Bulaev group, member of the State Duma committee on family, women and children.

On May 4, 2012, President of Russia Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev submitted the candidacy of Valery Zerenkov to the Duma of the Stavropol Territory for approval as governor of the Stavropol Territory . [7]

On May 5, 2012, the Duma of the Stavropol Territory approved Valery Zerenkov as governor. [8] [9]

In the new post of governor, Valery Zerenkov began to pay great attention to the Caucasian Mineral Waters, in particular, to the situation in Kislovodsk [10] .

On September 27, 2013, he was dismissed by the President of the Russian Federation on the basis of his statement [11] .
