Biography

Anatoly Mikhailov was born July 18, 1931 in the village of Staroselka of the Tsivilsky district of the Chuvash Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (USSR).

Having received a seven-year education at the Ivanovo rural school, he goes to study at the Tsivilsky Agricultural College (1945-47). In 1948, he began working as a music director at the Tsivilsky orphanage and accordionist-accompanist at the Tsivilsky vocational school. In 1954 he graduated from the conducting and choral department of the Cheboksary Music College named after F.P. Pavlova (in the conducting class of V.F. Verzhbitsky, in the piano class - by D.S. Nofel-Khodyasheva, in harmony and musical composition - by G. G. Liskov).

Then he calls up the young musician to the army, where he rose to the rank of conductor of the regimental song and dance ensemble. From 1957 to 1958, a tireless music lover studied at the Ural State Conservatory. M.P. Mussorgsky in the class of musical composition at the associate professor G.N. Beloglazov.

From 1958 to 1964, he teaches music at Cheboksary School No. 1 and boarding school No. 2 ; teaches conducting, button accordion, piano; musical-theoretical and other disciplines in the Cheboksary music, Kanash pedagogical and Civil educational schools.

In 1971, Anatoly Mikhailovich was admitted to the Union of Composers of the USSR, and since 1977 he has devoted himself entirely to composer creativity, and has been conducting concerts, musical propaganda, and educational activities. He held about 300 original concerts and creative meetings in Chuvashia and the Volga cities.

In 1990, Anatoly Mikhailovich organized the Association of Composers of the Chuvash Republic, he was elected President. Since 1994, he is Chairman of the Board of the Musical Society of the Chuvash Republic.

On November 22, 1997, after a serious long illness, Anatoly Mikhailovich left for another world.

In April 1998, his widow, Lydia Terentyevna Mikhailova, transferred Mikhailov’s documents to the State Archive of the Chuvash Republic for storage.

Works, books

The composer created about 1000 pieces of music: the operetta “Sailing, winged fly” on S. Shcherbakova's libretto; music for 15 performances of the Republican Puppet Theater and for the drama of P. Osipov "Aidar"; "Poem" for violin and piano; 6 marches for a brass band: “March of war years”, “March of vocational schools”; romances and songs.

He wrote melodies to the verses of I. Ivnik, A. Lukin, A. Savelyev and others. A significant place in his work is occupied by songs about all the cities of Chuvashia, the heroes who grew up on Chuvash land, about Moscow, about the Volga and Russian cities.

Vocal, choral, instrumental works by Anatoly Mikhailov are published on the records of the Melody company and are stored in the collections of the Chuvash and Russian radio.

In Moscow and Chuvashia, book publishers published 10 of his collections of works of art, including 8 choral songs.
