History

The wooden church on this site has been known since 1480. In 1650, a new wooden church was built, but it burned down in a fire in 1685. A stone church is being built instead of a burned one by 1692. During the construction of the church, services take place in the aisle rebuilt a little earlier (1691) in the name of Nicholas the Wonderworker . The temple was rebuilt in the second half of the XVIII century: the facades were updated, the dome cover was changed. In 1816, a bell tower was added to the church, and in 1842, the refectory and aisles were rebuilt. Once again, the church was renovated in 1913.

In 1932, the temple was closed, the top of the bell tower was dismantled, the colonnade was demolished. The building houses the Dynamo experimental sportswear factory. Since 1990, the temple and the surrounding area are transferred to the Federal Security Service . In 2001, the FSB officers decided to create their own Orthodox community, the leadership of the service supported this initiative. The church was consecrated on March 6, 2001 by Patriarch Alexy II . After the consecration, the FSB director Nikolai Patrushev handed over the symbolic key to the church to the patriarch.
