Temple of the Sacred Heart (Barcelona)

You can get to the temple by public transport:

• by direct bus T2A from Plaça Catalunya ;
• with change:

1. local train FGC, lines S1 or S2 - to the station Peu del Funicular,
2. funicular to the upper station,
3. 111 bus to the final.

It should be noted that within 1 hour 20 minutes the same ticket is valid for all these modes of transport. Te taking into account the metro can be reached with all transfers for 1 euro. Also at the top of Tibidabo are several parking complexes, incl. can be reached by car.

The temple is a complex of two churches, set one on top of the other ^[2] , as well as the Hermitage built back in 1886, marking the highest point of Tibidabo before any construction begins. The construction of the temple dedicated to the Sacred Heart continued from 1902 to 1961.
On September 29, 1961, Pope John XXIII awarded the title of the Lesser Basilica ( Latin Basilica minor ) to the Church of the Sacred Heart ^[3] .

With an elevator for € 3.5 (data from 2018), you can climb to the temple terrace at an altitude of 538.87 m above sea level, from where you can go up the stairs to the base of the upper dome (564.43 m above sea level) - a pedestal for the statue of Christ .
The top deck offers one of the best panoramic views of Barcelona and the surrounding area.
