Biography
Sheiban began his reign after the emir Harun was killed on December 30, 904 as a result of a mutiny of his bodyguards during the invasion of the Abbasid troops into Egypt.
Sheiban may have been the most worthy of Ahmed’s sons. He tried to resist, but was soon to give way to the pressure of superior forces [1] . Many former supporters of Harun did not support the new emir and went over to the side of the caliph . He was forced to retreat with the army in Fustat . The remnants of the army of Sheyban surrendered on January 11, 905. The state of Tulunidov ceased to exist [2] .
The Abbasid commander along with his Turks, disposed of the city he had conquered in the beginning of 905: everything was plundered, the Tulunid quarter of Al-Katai was destroyed almost to the ground, the supporters of the fallen ruling house were tortured and massacred, and all family members were taken to Baghdad , including the former emir himself [1] .
