Work, creative activity

Andrei Lekarenko immediately actively involved in creative activity, travels a lot around the region and Siberia. In 1926, he travels to the Yenisei North to participate in the census expedition. The trip became long, only in 1928 the artist returned to Krasnoyarsk. An extensive display of two hundred works created over the years of stay in the Far North, Lekarenko held immediately upon his return from Taimyr (1928) in Yeniseisk at the ethnographic and economic exhibition "Turukhansky Krai". The works of Lekarenko, as excellent ethnographic material, were noted by the Institute of the Peoples of the Far North of the USSR Academy of Sciences. Northern material for many years entered the work of the artist.

Based on numerous sketches, sketches, watercolors, starting in the mid-1930s, Andrei Lekarenko began to create paintings dedicated to the people and nature of the North. “Evenki hunters”, “In Taimyr. Nganasan ”,“ Girl from Taimyr ”,“ In Taimyr ”. In 1946, at the republican, and then the All-Union art exhibition “Victory”, his landscapes “Morning on the Yenisei”, “In the Lower Yenisei” and “In Taimyr. Nganasan. "

Lekarenko was the first Siberian artist to show the beauty of Sayan. Andrei Lekarenko worked a lot in the portrait genre. Among the created by him can be called a series of self-portraits, a wonderful portrait of D.I. Karatanov, executed with pen and ink, where the artist perfectly conveyed the character of Dmitry Innokentyevich. Of particular interest are the natural sketches of the northerners: “Nganasan Munto”, “Nganasan Sundampte”, “Silkin Nenets”, “Nganasan Yptudushi”, “Nganasan in sakuya”, “Nenets boy Semyon”. One of the most significant works of the northern cycle was the monumental painting "Shepherds-reindeer herders from Taimyr" (1957).

The greatest strength of his work was the landscape. A number of brilliant monumental canvases of the 1940-1960s, telling about the harsh beauty and power of Siberian nature, was created after a long trip of Lekarenko to Sayany in 1946, when for more than three months the artist traveled alone in this mountainous country. The majestic nature appears on the canvas "Cedars and gave", "Anzhinsky Belogorye. Eastern Sayans ”,“ Buybin Pass. Usinsky tract "," Coniferous taiga "," Spring in Belogorye. Eastern Sayan Mountains. " The compositional technique of the finely designed foreground and the panorama of the mountain ranges spanning into the distance, the dense, dim, but richly nuanced gamut of green, ocher colors, magnificent tonal and color relationships make each of the Sayan paintings an authentic work of art. Appearing at exhibitions, these canvases immediately attracted the attention of critics, numerous admirers of the bright talent of Andrei Prokofievich. And we can safely say that the canvases of his Sayan suite made a great contribution to the development of the Siberian landscape. Andrei Lekarenko devoted many historical works to Krasnoyarsk. He knew the city well, loved it, studied its history. Old Krasnoyarsk is reflected in many canvases and graphic sheets created throughout life. In them - the real city with its specific streets, churches intertwined with the city, seen by the artist’s inner gaze.

Many of the artist's works are stored in the collection of the Krasnoyarsk State Art Museum. V.I. Surikova .

Andrei Lekarenko died in the city of Krasnoyarsk. He was buried in Badalyk cemetery .
