Content
Songwriting
Despite the fact that the notes on the album indicate a large number of authors, all the songs are written by Bob Marley. Marley was involved in a dispute with his former publishing company Cayman music and, in order to circumvent contractual restrictions and provide financial assistance to his family and close friends, indicated their authors [8] .
Vincent Ford, Marley’s childhood friend, was listed as the author of “No Woman, No Cry” from Natty Dread , as well as “Crazy Baldheads”, “Positive Vibration” and “Roots Rock Reggae” from Positive Vibration . Widow Marley, Rita, and his former manager, Danny Sims, filed a lawsuit in which they claimed the above songs, claiming that the actual songwriter was Marley. The court decision satisfied the claim [9] .
