Functions
Inhibits the secretion of interleukin 1 mediated by caspase-1. Inhibits apoptosis mediated by PYCARD , but does not affect apoptosis induced by FAS or BID . [2] Inhibits the transcription factor NF-κB and, thus, plays the role of a negative regulator of inflammation.
In addition, NLRP10 plays an important role in the emigration of dendritic cells from the site of inflammation to deliver and present the antigen to T lymphocytes for their subsequent differentiation. [3]
Structure
Mature protein consists of 655 amino acids , and the molecular weight is 75.0 kDa . The molecule includes the DAPIN and NACHT domains and the ATP binding site . This is the only NOD-like receptor that does not contain LRR ( leucine enriched) repeats.
Interacts with PYCARD , caspase 1 and interleukin-1β .
Tissue specificity
High levels of expression in the heart , brain, and skeletal muscle. Less expressed in most other tissues.
