Biography
Gertyan Verbek was born in Deventer. As a player, he acted as a defender for the Dutch clubs Heerenveen (since 1984 - FC Heerenveen) (1984-1994), was on loan to Heracles (1986-1987).
Verbek began his career as a trainer in 1994 as an assistant coach at Heerenveen Club.
In 2001, Verbek became the head of Heracles . This was his first club as head coach.
In the summer of 2004, Gertyan Verbek became the head coach of Heerenveen, in which he was previously an assistant. In the Dutch championship , Heerenveen then took fourth place and received the right to participate in the UEFA Cup .
In 2008, he was hired by Feyenoord , but was fired several months later after a scandal with players.
After a brief return to Herkles, Gertian takes over the management of the AZ club, which led to the victory in the Netherlands Cup in the 2012/13 season.
December 22, 2014 signed a contract with the football club "Bochum", replacing Peter Neururer on this post. The contract, calculated until June 30, 2018, was terminated ahead of schedule on July 11, 2017.
In October of the same year, Verbek signed a contract with Twente , calculated until 2019 [2] .
