Created by Lina Dunham , who also plays a major role, the series tells about the life in New York of four girls, who are in their twenties. At the heart of the story is the real life of 26-year-old Lina Dunham [1] .
Lina Dunham was noticed after the release of her second film “Tiny Furniture”, to which she wrote the script and where she played the main role. The film received good reviews at festivals and several awards. After that, HBO invited her to write the script for the pilot “Girls”. [2]
The first season was well received by television critics who praised the fresh humor and narrative style [3] . Critics also note a greater realism of female characters and their relationships than is usually shown on television. [4] At the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards, the series was nominated for five awards, four of which were credited to Lina Dunham: for Best Actress in a Comedy Television Series , Best Screenplay, and "Best Director", and also as a producer in the category for " Best Comedy Series " [5] .
After the rating success of the first season, on April 30, 2012, HBO extended the series for the second season of ten episodes, which premiered on January 13, 2013 [6] . In total, 4 seasons came out; on January 5, 2015, the series was extended for season 5. Lina Dunham said she wants to finish the series after season 6. [7] . On January 5, 2016, HBO announced that season 6, which will be released in 2017, will be the last [8] .

Story
Hannah is a young twenty-four-year-old girl who has always been a creative person and dreamed of becoming a famous writer. Once her parents deprive her of financial assistance, after which she is forced to survive on her own. But the problem is that she is looking for a new experience that you will not find in a standard job from eight in the morning until five in the evening. In addition, Hannah is a very non-standard person and it is vital for her to be able to articulate her thoughts and emotions, which she is trying to do without thinking about the feelings of others. In addition to all this, Hannah, as they say, has a boneless language, which is why she often has problems with her friends who, like her, do not grab stars from the sky ...
