Biography
Born into a peasant family. Byelorussian. In 1929 he graduated from the Belarusian State University .
In the Red Army in 1918-1922 and since 1940. Member of the Civil War . In 1922-1940, on Soviet and trade union work in the Gomel region and in the capital of Belarus - Minsk .
In 1941 he graduated from the Military Academy named after MV Frunze . In the battles of World War II from August 1941.
On October 9, 1942, Colonel G. P. Isakov was appointed commander of the 99th Infantry Division (21st Army, Don Front ), the soldiers of which particularly distinguished themselves during Operation Ring - to destroy the surrounding enemy grouping in the Stalingrad area . For military merit, courage and heroism of the personnel of the 96th Rifle Division in the Battle of Stalingrad, on February 6, 1943, it was transformed into the 68th Guards Rifle Division.
By the decision of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR of February 22, 1943, Colonel G. P. Isakov was given the military rank of “Major General”.
The 68th Guards Rifle Division (40th Army, Voronezh Front ) under the command of the Guard, Major General G. P. Isakov, in September 1943, when crossing the Dnieper River south of Kiev, seized and steadfastly held a bridgehead.
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 23, 1943, for the skillful command of a rifle division, courage and heroism shown in the struggle against the German fascist invaders, Major-General Isakov Georgy Petrovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (No. 1244).
In 1943, G. P. Isakov graduated from the accelerated course of the Military Academy of the General Staff, and on 7 December 1944 he was appointed commander of the 18th Guards Rifle Division.
At the final stage of the war, from April 23, 1945, Hero of the Soviet Union, Major General G. P. Isakov - Commander of the 16th Guards Rifle Karachev Order of Lenin, Red Banner, Order of Suvorov 2nd Division (36th Guards Rifle Nemansky Red Banner Corps, 11th Guards Army, 3rd Belorussian Front).
After the war, G. P. Isakov continued his service in the army. He was head of the military departments of Tartu State University , Estonian Agricultural Academy. Since 1955, Major General G. P. Isakov is in reserve.
He lived in the capital of Latvia - the city of Riga . He was buried in the Rainis cemetery in Riga.

In the town of Rogachev, Gomel Region, on the Alley of Heroes in Pioneer Park, a memorial sign was installed to G. P. Isakov.
