Biography

Kingen (Keenan) was the son of Kasanaut , the son of Ridved [2] . In this case, the source believes that the Keenan mentioned in the genealogy from Jesus College, as the father of Kenelaf the Red-faced and as the son of Kasanaut Wledig, is allegedly the very Kingen Glodridd [3] . According to another version, Kingen Glodridd was the son of Cadell Dirnlug [4] . According to the Harlean genealogies, Kingen was the son of Maukant , the son of Pascent, the son of Kategirn , the son of Kadell Dirnlug , the son of Selemiaun [5] (Seliva? [6] ) and the father of Brochweil [5] .

In 519, Kingen became King of Powys. [7]

Kingen up Maukant, was married to St. Tudluistle , daughter of Brihan ap Guingen ap Teudr (who is often confused with King Brihan ). Or she was the daughter of Kinfor, the son of Maugan, the son of Pascen [2] . From the Tudluists, he had five sons and a daughter, Sanant, who married Mailgun of Guinea . [eight]

Kingen is sometimes identified with Aurelius Canin , whom Guild condemned in his treatise De Excidio Brianniae . The name Kingen can literally be translated as "Beloved Dog." The guild accuses Aurelius Canin of immorality and murder, as well as the outbreak of civil war in Britain. In subsequent years, however, it seems that he fell into religion and began to patronize the saints and made generous donations to the church.

Kingen died in 547, the same year as Mailgun Gwynedi , who, according to the Cambrian Annals, died of the Yellow Plague, an epidemic that destroyed a large part of the British population. He was buried in St. Cadvan, in the local cemetery. Probably his memorial stone was discovered in Tiuin (in Gwynedd) in 1761. He was succeeded by his son Brochweil Iskitrog .
