Biography

Born on September 15, 1912 in the village of Novopodymka, now the Novoukrainsky district of the Kirovograd region of Ukraine, in a peasant family. Ukrainian. Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1942. After graduating from primary school, he worked as a loader.

In the Red Army since October 1941. Called Kapskoy military enlistment office of the Georgian SSR. In the battles of World War II from November 1941.

The commander of a detachment of a company of machine gunners of the 234th rifle regiment (179th rifle division, 43rd army, 1st Baltic front ) sergeant Ischenko I. M. Beshenkovichsky district of the Vitebsk region of Belarus and in street fighting destroyed 5 Nazis.

On June 24, 1944, near the village of Vyazhice (now the village of Budilovo ) of the Beshenkovichsky district of the Vitebsk region, under fire from the enemy using available means, Sergeant Ivan Ischenko was the first to cross to the left bank of the Western Dvina river and in the battle for mastering the bridgehead destroyed up to ten German machine gunners and snipers.

On June 26, 1944, the Nazis, in an effort to leave the encirclement, with a force of up to two infantry platoons, launched an attack on the section of I. Ishchenko’s branch, which was repelled by Soviet soldiers with heavy losses for the attackers. Then, pursuing the enemy, the detachment of Sergeant Ischenko took the road "Vitebsk - Beshenkovichi", cutting off the path of retreat for the enemy. In this battle, I. M. Ischenko personally destroyed eight Nazis, and three captured. The department seized thirty-six cars.

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated July 22, 1944, Sergeant Ischenko, Ivan Mitrofanovich, was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (No. 4136) for the exemplary performance of command assignments and for showing courage and heroism in battles with the fascist German invaders. After the war, the foreman Ischenko I.M. demobilized. He lived and worked as an auto mechanic in the capital of Bashkiria - the city of Ufa . Died January 17, 1979, buried in Ufa.
