Pheidole pallidula (lat.) - a species of ants of the genus Pheidole from the subfamily Myrmicinae ( Formicidae ). Palearctic. Brownish-yellow small ants. Length: 1.8-4.5 mm (workers and soldiers), 6-8 mm (females) [3] . The species was originally described in 1849 as part of the Myrmica genus based on materials from Sicily by the Finnish naturalist William Nyulander . In 1855 it was included in the genus Pheidole (Smith, 1858) [2] [4] . These ants serve as hosts for the ectoparasitic fungi Myrmicinosporidium durum ( Laboulbeniales , Ascomycota ); (Espadaler & Santamaria, 2012) [5] .

Content
Distribution
The Palaearctic (including North Africa and the Middle East ), mainly in the Mediterranean . It is represented in Europe in the following countries [6] : Albania , Austria , Greece (including Crete ), Spain (including Madeira ), Italy (including Sardinia and Sicily ), Cyprus , Macedonia , Malta , Monaco , Portugal , Russia , Romania , Slovenia , Turkey , France (including Corsica ), Yugoslavia , as well as the Balearic and Canary Islands .
