Story

The action of the novel is in no way connected with the two previous novels of the Shalion cycle, they are united only by a common world. Boleso, the youngest son of the king, tried to forcibly seize Yada - a girl from a noble, but not wealthy family. In defense, Yada killed the prince. The Chancellor sends Lord Ingri to investigate the circumstances of the death. But everything turned out to be much more complicated than it seemed at first - in order to gain the strength of the warriors of Ancient Veld, the murdered prince actively used forbidden magic. And it turned out that Ingri himself was cursed, pushing him over and over again to attempt to kill Yada. And Lord Igni has to find out who is responsible for what happened.

As in previous novels of the cycle, much attention in the "Holy Hunt" is given to the psychological experiences of the heroes, as well as philosophical thoughts. Also in the center of the story is the relationship between people and gods, faith and the atonement of past acts. The author did very well in the characters, and also managed to achieve a balance between the dynamism of the narrative and the image of the inner torment of the heroes [1] .

There are no combat scenes in the novel, and, unlike many fantasy novels, the main villain is absent - the character who is responsible for what is happening is more a victim of circumstances, but because of this he does not become less dangerous [1] .

The novel was released in the United States in September 2005. Unlike the previous novel, he could not get any awards, although he was nominated for the “ Locus ” award, taking as a result the 4th place in the nomination “Best Fantasy Novel”. The novel was reprinted several times in the United States and was translated into several languages, including Russian.
