Alexey Lavrentievich Tikhonovsky (born September 15, 1935 , Koryukovka (now the Chernihiv region of Ukraine ) is a Ukrainian Soviet scientist in the field of vacuum metallurgy, doctor of technical sciences ( 1975 ), laureate of the USSR State Prize ( 1974 ).

Biography
After graduating from the Kiev Polytechnic Institute in 1958, he worked at the Institute of Electric Welding of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (now the EO Paton Electric Welding Research Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine .
His main works are on the problems of electron beam melting and refining of metals and alloys , and the theory of physical and chemical processes in vacuum.
