The sea company is one of the first units of the Volunteer Army.
History
At the beginning of November 1917, Captain 2nd rank V.N. Potemkin began to form an army company of naval officers and midshipmen on a Colchis yacht in Rostov . When the personnel grew to 35-40 people, the company began to carry out guard service in the port and at the main power station. In December, the company was transferred to the building of the Naval College, where it was replenished to 65 people at the expense of the pupils of the school and gymnasium students.
From January 3 to 17, as part of the Taganrog detachment of Colonel Kutepov, defended Taganrog and Rostov from the advancing Sivers group.
On January 17, 1918, the company was sent to guard the Bataysk freight station, where the dismantled Shock Division of the Caucasian Cavalry Division was already under the command of Colonel V. M. Shiryaev (120 people with two guns). On February 12, the combined detachment had to fight during the day with the red detachment of I. L. Sorokin , many times superior in numbers, supported by an armored train . In battle, the detachment lost more than half of the personnel killed and wounded, after which, under cover of darkness, retreated to the village of Olginskaya , and then to Rostov. In battle, the commander of the Marine Company was captain of the 2nd rank Potemkin.
Upon returning to Rostov, the remnants of the Marine Company became part of the 4th company of the Officer Regiment.
