Postindustrial (from the English post-industrial - “postindustrial”) is a combination of related genres of electronic music that emerged in the 1980s from the mutual influence of elements of various musical styles with the then new industrial genre.

Styles of post-industrial music include the features of the sound of both traditional industrial and other musical genres: noise ( power noise ), ambient ( dark ambient ), ethnic ( neo-folk ), dance ( industrial dance , power electronics and electro-industrial ) and rock music ( industrial rock and industrial metal ).
At the moment, post-industrial has developed scenes around the world, especially in North America , Europe and Japan . Of the styles of post-industrial, the greatest commercial popularity was industrial metal .
