Lake Name
According to one version, the name of the lake comes from the name of the flowing river Alne. Among the locals there is a beautiful story about the origin of the name of the lake. Locals said that the lake resembles the silhouette of a galloping deer, and its name is translated into Russian as “Deer” (Elnias - Lithuanian “Deer”). If you look at the lake from above, with its outlines it resembles a deer leaping forward, with your front legs under you and tilting your head, putting forward branched horns forward.
