Coins and banknotes of France 1870 - 1940

During this period, banknotes of 5, 10 and 20 francs entered into circulation. During the First World War, France stopped issuing silver and gold coins and was forced to mint coins from an alloy of bronze and aluminum in denominations of 2, 1 and 1/2 francs ^[1] .
