The Big Knyaspinskoe Lake is located in the city district of Karpinsk in the Sverdlovsk Region, 5 km west of the village of Sosnovka . The area is 4.2 km² [2] , the water level is 221.1 m. Flowing, connected by the Knyaspinsky Istok river to the Turya river (the right tributary of the Sosva River). Loaded by a dam built in 1884. Adjacent to the western part of the swamp is the Grand Knyaspinskoe. The west coast is covered with forest, the east is boggy. On the shore of the lake there is a botanical natural monument of the Sverdlovsk region - Staroknyaspinsky cedar [3] .
On July 16, 1770, the scientist Peter Simon Pallas visited the lake, near which at that time there were Mansi yurts . In his book Reise durch verschiedene Provinzen des Rußischen Reichs (1773), he called it Knäschpin. The name hides the name of the local Mansi. There is evidence that in the XVIII century the ore miner Vogul Fyodor Knyaspin was. Other sources of the XVIII-XIX centuries mention the yurts of Knyaspina, Lake Knyaspino and Knyaskino [4] .
There are crucian carp, pike, minnow, chebak, burbot, perch. Significant reserves of therapeutic sapropel are contained. Near the southern edge is a recreation center. Picturesque panorama of the surrounding mountains.
