Stavros Lambrinidis ( Greek Σταύρος Λαμπρινίδης ; born February 6, 1962 , Athens ) - Greek politician, member of the PASOK party , former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece (2011).

Biographical information
In 1984, he graduated from Amherst College with a bachelor's degree in economics and political science. In 1988, he received his doctorate from Yale University . From 1988 to 1993, he worked as a lawyer at Wilmer, Culter & Pickering ( Washington , DC ). During the same period, he served as editor-in-chief of the Yale Journal of International Law until being elected Chairman of the Human Rights Committee at the Washington, DC Bar Association.
From 1999 to 2004, he served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hellenic Republic. In 2009, he was elected vice president of the European Parliament , holding this position until 2011 . As a member of the Greek parliament, he also served as special adviser to the country's prime minister, Jorgos Papandreou . June 17, 2011 appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, replacing Dimitris Drutzas at this post.
After the resignation of Jorgos Papandreou and the formation of a coalition government led by Lucas Papadimos , Lambrinidis was replaced on November 11, 2011 as Foreign Minister Stavros Dimas .
