Arystan Specialized Lyceum (started functioning in January 2011) is a general educational institution created under the auspices of the Public Fund “ Education Fund of Nursultan Nazarbayev ”, the director of which is Dinara Nursultanovna Kulibayeva, doctor of pedagogical sciences. The lyceum has the status of a branch of the Fund.
Male citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan who have reached 14 years of age at the time of admission, who have graduated from grades 8–9 of a general secondary school, who are fit for health reasons and meet the requirements of professional psychological selection and physical fitness, are accepted for training at the lyceum.
The lyceum functions in the form of a boarding school . The term of study at the Lyceum is 3 years under the program of a comprehensive school (grades 9-11). Training and maintenance of lyceum students: accommodation, meals and providing uniforms - is free of charge. Upon graduation, graduates receive a certificate of secondary education and are sent to higher military schools of the Ministry of Defense and other law enforcement agencies, as well as foreign military schools, taking into account their professional and psychological suitability, the level of general educational, military and physical training, business and moral qualities, disciplines, health conditions.
The main task of the Lyceum is to provide a high level of education for young men, to form such traits as courage, endurance, perseverance, a strong character, high culture, a developed sense of patriotism and civic duty. Graduates of the lyceum should be able to fulfill their constitutional and civil duties while serving in the power structures of sovereign Kazakhstan.
Future lyceum students are accepted on a competitive basis, after passing entrance exams in specialized subjects, namely in mathematics and physics, as well as Kazakh, Russian and English, successfully passing a professional-psychological selection (including the IQ test ), medical examination , and physical exam.
Children from low-income and large families enjoy a pre-emptive right when enrolling for education.
For the training and residence of lyceum students, a modern educational complex has been created in the picturesque foothills of the Zailiysky Alatau in the vicinity of the city of Almaty , in the village of Beskainar, Talgar region , on the territory of the former pioneer camp "Spark".
For lyceum students are provided with classrooms equipped in accordance with modern requirements, laboratories, classrooms, a rich library fund of more than 20 thousand books. Internet access is provided to the required extent.
For the full physical development of students in the Lyceum there is a multifunctional modern sports hall for all sports, a 25-meter pool, gyms for boxing, wrestling, fitness and dance halls, a recording studio, and a shooting gallery. No less opportunities are provided by the summer sports base, which includes an artificial football field, tennis court, volleyball and basketball courts, a magnificent gymnastic town, a military obstacle course.
The military way of life on the basis of a specialized training program and a modern base of basic military training allows you to more deeply master the fundamentals of military affairs, provides students with the education of leadership qualities, high discipline, organization and a sense of self-confidence. Experienced educators help them in this - mentors from among reserve officers with extensive life and military experience. In total, 21 military specialists work in the Lyceum.
An important feature of the initial military training program is its practical orientation: lyceum students have the opportunity to study at the training center of the Military Institute of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan for a month and acquire practical skills of military skills in the field. These skills help them in their studies at higher educational institutions of power structures.
The Lyceum pays great attention to the formation and development of rituals and traditions. So, the Lyceum has its own Flag (like a military unit), a hymn, an emblem, a code of honor and other attributes that determine the moral and ethical content of the study and life of lyceum students.
A special place in the life of the Lyceum is occupied by the ritual of taking the Oath by high school students of 9th grade, which is held annually in late April. This day is declared Lyceum Day.
Significant support in the formation and functioning of the Lyceum is provided by the Board of Trustees of the Lyceum, headed by Timur Askarovich Kulibayev .
In April 2013, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev visited the Arystan Specialized Lyceum, who praised the institution and noted that this innovative and charitable project is a good example of the participation of private capital in expanding the availability of quality education for young people through public-private mechanisms partnerships.
During its existence, the Lyceum has produced six issues. Graduates of the lyceum entered the military educational institutions of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Academy of the Border Guard Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan , the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan , military schools of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, Ukraine, the USA, Turkey, and China.
Some of the graduates entered Nazarbayev University , KazNTU , IUIT and Eurasian University .
