Release History

Label Capitol Records , a division of EMI and the brotherly label Parlophone (the main record label of the group), for a long time refused to release any Beatles songs in the USA. For this reason, the first two American singles of the group, as well as the American album Introducing ... The Beatles were released by the relatively small Vee-Jay label, which did not have sufficient resources to advertise and promote their CDs, and therefore these records were sold out rather poorly. In the end, Vee-Jay lost its rights to release the Beatles songs due to non-payment of royalties, after which the rights to release the single She Loves You went to an even smaller label, Swan Records .

In November 1963, when the Beatles were included in the US Ed Ed Sullivan Show (a performance in February 1964), Capitol Records eventually changed its mind about the band's potential. According to legal agreements between Capitol Records and Vee-Jay, the latter received the right to sell existing Beatles records until October 10, 1964, after which all rights in the United States to Beatles records created under EMI control were transferred to Capitol Records.

The mini-album Souvenir of Their Visit to America , prepared and released by Vee-Jay before the expiration of their rights, was very successful, however, music magazines refused to rate its ratings on the charts due to the fact that part of the sales of this album was carried out by mail orders, and also because mini-albums as a music recording format were not very popular in the USA. Initially, the mini-album was released in a special cardboard box at a fairly high price of $ 1 and 29 cents [2] ; pretty quickly the second issue appeared, already in an ordinary paper envelope and at the price of a regular single. According to Vee-Jay, about a million copies were sold [2] .
