Mainland (film)

The action takes place on a small island south of Sicily . Filippo, 20, helps his grandfather Ernesto go to sea on an old boat, but fishing, which people have been practicing on the island for a long time, does not bring former income. Therefore, Juliet, the mother of Filippo, decides to rent an apartment to tourists who come for the summer, young people with whom her son quickly finds a common language. In one of the last trips to the sea, Ernesto notices illegal immigrants from Africa swaying on the waves and, following an ancient maritime custom, picks them up. When they arrive ashore, all the saved are scattered, except for the pregnant woman and her young son. Ernesto decides to shelter them, but now he and his family are in danger, since it is illegal to hide illegal immigrants.
