Pempelfort ( German: Pempelfort ) is an administrative district in the city of Dusseldorf ( Germany , the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia ). Located in the central part of the city. The district is included in the 1st administrative district of Dusseldorf.
In the southwest, Pempelfort borders with the Altstadt region, in the south with the Stadtmitte region, in the east with the Düsseltal region, in the northeast with the Düsseldorf-Derendorf district , and in the northwest with the Golzheim district. On the west side, Pempelfort's natural border is the Rhine River. The Oberkassel Bridge connects Pempelfort with the Oberkassel district.
Pempelfort belongs to the prestigious urban areas with a high cost of housing. At the same time, Pempelfort is the most densely populated area of Dusseldorf. The population density in the area is 10,417 people / km².
History
The settlement of Pempelfort was included in the city of Dusseldorf in 1854 by decree of the King of Prussia Friedrich Wilhelm IV . But before that, on the territory of Pempelfort in 1769 - 1771, the oldest park of Düsseldorf Hofgarten ( de: Hofgarten (Düsseldorf) ) was laid out according to the design of Maximilian Friedrich Weich . Since 1804, the Golzheim Cemetery ( de: Golzheimer Friedhof ) has also functioned in the northern part of Pempelfort, which was closed in 1898 and is now used as a park.
In 1888, Prince George Street, the main thoroughfare of the area, was laid through Pempelfort. In 1902, an industrial exhibition was held on the Rhine, many of the buildings and structures were subsequently rebuilt and used for various museums and exhibition halls. In 1910, the monumental building of the Supreme Court ( de: Oberlandesgericht Düsseldorf ) was built. In 1926, the Tonhalle Concert Hall ( de: Tonhalle Düsseldorf ) and the Ehrenhof Museum Complex ( de: Ehrenhof (Düsseldorf) ) were opened. In 1994-1998 , the Victoria-Turm high-rise office building was built in Pempelfort.

Transport
In Pempelfort, Düsseldorf U78 and U79 light rail routes run.
Through the territory of the district, there are lines of the city train Rhine-Ruhr region S1 , S6 and S11 . There are also a number of tram and bus routes in the area.
