It starts between the mountains of Valdai and Nevelskaya [3] . It flows east in an intermountain valley covered with fir-birch forest [3] . It falls into the Sea of Okhotsk . It flows through the territory of the Poronaysky urban district of the Sakhalin region [4] .
The width of the river near the mouth is 30 meters, the depth is 0.7 meters [3] .
The main tributaries are Ishimka (pr), Tributaries (pr), Roast (pr), Tropovaya (pr), Nightingale (lv) [3] .
