Biography

Born on November 10, 1939 in the town of Solchur Sumon Ovur Dzun-Khemchiksky District of the Tuva People’s Republic [1] . He graduated from the Handagaytinsky secondary school in 1958 and began working as a secretary in the Komsomol of the Ovurysky district committee. He entered the Gorky Literary Institute and graduated with honors in 1967. He is one of the first people in the republic who studied at state institutions. He worked as a teacher of Russian language and literature in Ovursky kozhuun , was a correspondent for the newspapers “Shyn”, “Tyvanyk anyyakty”, “Sildyschigash”, an employee of the regional studies department of the Republican Library named after A.S. Pushkin , a methodologist at the Republican Center for Folk Literature.

After a long illness, he died in 1992.

Creativity

He began to write poetry in his school years. In 1965, his first collection “Sinda Odaglar” (Bonfires on the ranges) [2] was released . The author of the poetry collections “Inakshyl” (Love), 1968, “Khurlee”, “Sug-chinchiler” (Dew Earrings), 1992. Novels , Dorzhu’s short stories were published in a separate collection Syrghalar (Earrings), 1989. His poems were published in the magazines Smena, Young Guard, Neva, Siberian Lights, and in the almanacs Poetry and Meridian.

He made a great contribution to Tuvan literature and as a translator. Translations: the novel “The Life of Arina” by Lazar Kokyshev ; stories by Vily Lipatov , Mustay Karim , A. Kokushev and others.

His name was included in Tuvan literature, since 1998 he was introduced into the school curriculum. People still sings and reads his songs and poems.

  • Laureate of the Sergei Purbyu Prize.

Memory

  • The main library of Ovurskiy kozhuun is named after Mongush Dorzhu.
