Red-bellied Macaw [1] ( lat. Orthopsittaca manilata, synonym Ara manilata ) is a bird of the parrot family . The only species of the genus. Previously included in the genus macaw .

AppearanceBody length 45-50 cm, tail 23 cm; weight 370 g. Coloring dark green, head with a bluish tint. The upper back is olive green, the chest and throat are grayish green. There is a large red-brown spot on the belly. The tail is olive green above, and the inside is yellow green. On the wings and their fold, the coverts have a blue tint. Feather feathers are blue-green. The beak is black, the cheeks are white. The iris is dark brown.
DistributionIt lives in Brazil , Colombia , Southern Venezuela , Guyana , Peru and in eastern Ecuador .
LifestyleInhabit tropical rainforests . They feed mainly on palm fruits, fruits, and other plant foods. Often fly to feed in palm groves and corn plantations.
ContentsIt enters Europe quite rarely and in small batches, since it is considered more difficult to maintain than other South American birds. Probably this prejudice is associated with a greater sensitivity of small ars to flaws in feeding. Just like amazons and large arams, these birds are shown a low-fat diet, sunflower seeds and nuts in the diet are contraindicated, a large amount of juicy food is needed. Man-raised, they become very affectionate and tame birds. They have some ability to imitate.
