Biography

Louise Danz was born on December 11, 1917 in Walldorf , Germany . After graduating from the public school, she worked at the Brandenburg bakery. In 1940 she returned to her parents and began to serve in the mail. On January 24, 1943, Danz received an invitation to work as a female supervisor at the SS Women's Auxiliary Units . She began working at the Ravensbruck concentration camp , then she was transferred to Majdanek . Later, Danz served in Auschwitz and Malchow .

The prisoners later reported that they had been ill-treated by Danz. She beat them, confiscated clothes issued for the winter. In Malchow, where Danz had the position of senior warder, she starved the prisoners without giving them food for three days. She killed an underage girl on April 2, 1945 [1] . Historian S. Erpel S. in the book Gefolge der SS: Aufseherinnen des Frauen-KZ Ravensbrück. Begleitband zur Ausstellung writes that "the torments of women gave her pleasure" [2] .

Danz was arrested on June 1, 1945 in Lutzow . At the court of the Supreme National Tribunal, which lasted from November 24, 1947 to December 22, 1947, she was sentenced to life imprisonment [3] [4] . Released in 1956 for health reasons. In 1996, she was charged with the aforementioned murder of a child, but it was dropped after doctors said it would be too hard for Danz to endure a repeated imprisonment. She lived in Germany, died in 2009 [5] .
