Carl Johan Fredrik Scottsberg ( Swede Carl Johan Fredrik Skottsberg [2] [3] [4] , December 1, 1880 - June 14, 1963 ) is a Swedish botanist [3] , one of the greatest botanists-researchers of the XX century [4] and mycologist [ 2] . Brother of the artist Lydia Scottsberg .

Biography
Karl Johan Fredrik Scottsberg was born in Karlshamn on December 1, 1880 [4] [5] .
In 1899-1960, he made numerous trips around the world to study botany [4] . In the years 1901-1904, Scottsberg took part in the Swedish Antarctic expedition [4] . In 1907, he received a Ph.D. from Uppsala University and was hired as a lecturer [4] .
In 1909-1914, Karl Johan Fredrik was the curator of the Botanical Museum in Uppsala [4] . In 1911, he published The Wilds of Patagonia [4] . In the years 1919-1948, Scottsberg was the director of the Botanical Garden in Gothenburg [4] . In 1949, he was president of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences , and in 1950, president of the Seventh International Botanical Congress [4] . In the same year, Scottsburg became a member of the Royal Society of London [4] .
In 1960, Carl Johan Fredrick published Remarks on the Plant Geography of the Southern Cold Temperate Zone [4] . Scottsberg made a significant contribution to botany by describing many plant species [6] .
Karl Johan Fredrik Scottsberg died in Gothenburg on June 14, 1963 [4] .
