The government of Yorgos Papandreou (2009-2011) was formed on October 7, 2009. After the early parliamentary elections on October 4, 2009, the leader of the victorious PASOK party, Yorgos Papandreou, became the Prime Minister of Greece.

The Government of Yorgos Papandreou
The new Cabinet of Ministers was formed on October 7, 2009 , it has become smaller than the previous one due to the following changes in the regulations:
- Prime Minister Yorgos Papandreou at the same time assumed the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece ;
- the Ministry of Macedonia and Thrace was liquidated, as well as the Ministry of Merchant Fleet and Island Policy;
- The Ministry of Transport and Communications is combined with the public works sector as part of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Land Management and Public Works; however, the Ministry of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change stood out from the latter.
- all power structures ( Greek police , Greek coast guard, fire service) are united under the leadership of the Ministry of Public Order.
- The Ministries of Culture and the Ministry of Tourism are united into a single Ministry of Culture and Tourism .
On September 7, 2010 , Jorgos Papandreou carried out large-scale shifts in the government of the country [1] . On the same day, the new government was sworn in by the chairman of the synod of the Greek Orthodox Church, Archbishop Jerome II in the presence of President Karolos Papoulias and Prime Minister Jorgos Papandreou [2] . The composition of the government has been expanded from 36 to 48 people, 17 of which hold ministerial posts. The expansion of the government was due to the introduction of new posts of deputy ministers. New appointments [3] :
- The Minister of Economy and Competition of Greece was Michalis Chrysochoidis , who previously headed the Ministry of Public Order.
- Luca Katzeli , former Minister of Economics, has been appointed Minister of Labor . Katseli's predecessor in this post, Andreas Loverdos, became Minister of Health .
- Christ Paputsis was appointed Minister of Public Order.
Jorgos Papandreou resigned as Minister of Foreign Affairs, appointed Dimitris Drutzas .
Structural changes:
- re-formed the Ministry of Merchant Fleet [4] .
Cabinet June 17, 2011
On June 15, 2011, Yorgos Papandreou announced his intention to carry out regular personnel shifts in the government, despite the total discontent of the people with the actions of the government, which led to mass protests [5] . The new Cabinet was announced on June 17 [6] and received support in the Greek Parliament on June 21, 2011 [7] .
