Biography
Born in the family of an employee. In 1851 he graduated from Kazan University . September 10, 1851 he arrived at the service in Turyinsky mines . Here, in 1852, he performed the first goiter removal in the Urals and the third in Russia. A year later, he performed the first cataract surgery in the Urals. In 1856, Mislavsky moved to Yekaterinburg to work at the Lower Iset factory. Three years later, he accepted the proposal of the owners of the Verkhne-Isetsk plant to head the factory hospital. Over 50 years of medical activity, he performed 10 thousand operations, received 300 thousand patients, conducted 1 million rounds of patients.
On May 15, 1901, the city council of Yekaterinburg unanimously awarded the Zemstvo doctor Alexander Mislavsky the title of honorary citizen of the city. It was the first event of this kind in the history of Yekaterinburg [1] .
Corresponding Member of the (1901), Honorary President of the Ural Society of Lovers of Natural History (1891). The name of Mislavsky is the 2nd city hospital of the Verkh-Isetsky district of Yekaterinburg (1974). He was awarded Russian orders, including the Order of St. Vladimir of the 4th degree, the Order of St. Anna of the 2nd degree, the Swedish Order of the Commander's Cross of the Vase .
The name of Mislavsky is the Central City Hospital No. 2 in Yekaterinburg . The complex of buildings of the former eye hospital, where Mislavsky worked, is recognized as an object of cultural heritage [2] .
He was buried in a churchyard near Alexander Nevsky Cathedral (the burial place has not been preserved).
The son of A. A. Mislavsky is N. A. Mislavsky , physiologist, corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences [3] [4] [5] .
