The 1993 Eurovision Song Contest became the 38th Eurovision Song Contest . It was held on May 15, 1993 in the city of Milstreet ( Ireland ) at the Greenglens indoor stadium. The city, in which only 1.5 thousand people lived, became the smallest settlement among the venues for Eurovision. At the same time, the contestants lived in the cities of Cork and Killarney .

An increase in the number of Eastern European countries wishing to participate in the competition forced the organizers to conduct a qualifying round, which took place on April 3 in Ljubljana . Following its results, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Slovenia became the newcomers to Eurovision, and Hungary, Slovakia, Romania and Estonia could not overcome the qualifying round. Thus, the number of participants has increased to 25 countries. Video postcards showed the representative of each country against the backdrop of the most beautiful places in Ireland that they visited during the Euro Week. This year, the organizer of the competition won for the fifth time with the song “In your eyes”, performed by Niam Kawana.
