Biography

Born in Tula . He graduated from the city gymnasium of Perov in 1917.

Civil War and the Interwar Period

In the Red Army since November 1919 [1] , he joined the army as a volunteer. He graduated from the Tula infantry command courses in May 1920, the school of higher command personnel of armored units in October 1920. He participated in the civil war in Russia on the Southern Front , then, being the commander of the tank of the 6th tank and armored squad, he participated in the suppression of the Cossack uprising in the Uralsk region and the elimination of gangs in the Southern Urals . Thus, Pavel Poluboyarov became one of the first Soviet tankers who had combat experience with tank operations during the Civil War, unlike most other military commanders who came to the tank troops during the interwar period from cavalry and infantry. Member of the RCP (b) since 1920.

After the Civil War, he graduated from the Leningrad Autobuilding School in 1926, the TEKO courses in Kazan in 1931, the Military Academy of Mechanization and Motorization of the Red Army named after I.V. Stalin in 1938, and advanced training courses for the higher command personnel at the Academy of the General Staff of the Red Army in January 1941. Since October 1926, he served as the commander of the training platoon of the 3rd automobile regiment ( Kharkov ), from October 1927 - the commander of the training platoon of armored vehicles of the 12th armored division ( Berdichev ), from December 1929 - the commander of the armored division of the 45th rifle division of the Ukrainian military district , since November 1931 - the chief of staff of the training tank regiment ( Kiev ). Since May 1932, he served as an assistant to the head of the combat training sector in the command of the armored forces of the Ukrainian military district , and from April 1934, he served as the head of the sector there.

In 1938, after graduating from the academy, he was appointed with a great promotion by the head of the armored division of the Trans-Baikal Military District . He took part in the hostilities on Khalkhin Gol in 1939 and was awarded his first order for differences in battles. Since June 1940 - Deputy Commander of the 17th Army in the Trans-Baikal Military District . From January 1941 - Head of the Armored Directorate of the Leningrad Military District , from March of the same year - the Baltic Military District .

World War II

Member of the Great Patriotic War since June 1941. He was the head of the armored directorate of the North-Western Front . Since March 1942 - Deputy Commander of the Kalinin Front for Tank Troops. Since August 1942 - the commander of the 17th Panzer Corps , which in January 1943 was transformed into the 4th Guards Panzer Corps (after the war it became the 4th Guards Kantemirovskaya Division ). During the years of World War II, P.P. Poluboyarov was personally mentioned 15 times in the orders of the Supreme Commander of the USSR I.V. Stalin [2] . The corps under the command of General Poluboyarov as part of the Voronezh , Southwest and 1st Ukrainian fronts participated in a counterattack near Stalingrad , the battle of Kursk , in the Zhytomyr-Berdychiv , Proskurov-Chernivtsi , Lviv-Sandomir , Karpatsk-Duklinskaya , Vistula-Oderne , - Silesian and Upper Silesian , Berlin and Prague operations . For successful military operations, the corps was awarded the Orders of Lenin and the Red Banner, and Poluboyarov himself was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union on May 29, 1945 for skillful command and control of troops during the capture of Dresden and displayed heroism and courage.

After the war, he continued to command the corps for about a year. Since April 1946 - commander of the 5th Guards Tank Army . From March 1949, he was deputy, and from May 1953, first deputy commander of the armored and mechanized forces of the USSR Armed Forces . Since May 1954 - Chief of the armored forces of the Soviet Army . From May 1969 until the end of his life, he was a military inspector-adviser to the Group of Inspectors General of the USSR Ministry of Defense .

Member of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR 4-7 convocations (1955-1971). Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus .

He was buried at the Novodevichy cemetery .

Plaque at Kantemirovka station
  • A street in Moscow (1995), a street in Naro-Fominsk and in the village of Kantemirovka are named after Marshal Poluboyarov.
  • On December 18, 2009, a memorial plaque to Pavel Pavlovich Poluboyarov was opened at the station building of the Kantemirovka railway station, under whose command the 17th Panzer Corps, which was part of the 6th Army of the Voronezh Front, on December 19, 1942 freed Kantemirovka from the Nazi invaders [5] .
  • In 2010, by order of the Moscow Government No. 819-RP, school No. 770 (Educational complex No. 982) was named after P. P. Poluboyarov. The school has a museum, the main theme of which is devoted to the combat route of the 4th Guards Tank Division.
