Curriculum vitae

Anastasios Yannitsis was born in 1944 in Athens. He studied law and economic and political sciences at the University of Athens . Later he received a Ph.D. in economics from the Free University of Berlin ( 1974 ). Since 1975, he is a professor at the Faculty of Economics, University of Athens.

He served as a consultant at the Union of Greek Banks, with the Ministry of Finance in the government of Xenophon Zolotas and a number of other institutions. Member of the Finance Committee, Advisor of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development ( 1993-2000 ) and Prime Minister Kostas Simitis on economic issues in the period 1994-2000 . He was Minister of Labor and Social Policy ( 2000–2001 ), Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs ( 2001–2004 ), Minister of Foreign Affairs ( 2004 ), State Minister.

In December 2009, he resigned as chairman of the board of Lambrakis Press and moved to the post of president of Hellenic Petroleum . On November 11, 2011, he was appointed Minister of Internal Affairs of Greece in a coalition government headed by Lucas Papadimos .
