Eurovision Song Contest 1986 was the 31st Eurovision Song Contest . It took place on May 3, 1986 in the city of Bergen ( Norway ) on the stage "Grigall" . Greece and Italy refused to participate in the competition, however, the Netherlands and Yugoslavia returned, and for the first time Iceland took part in the competition. Thus, the number of participants reached 20. This year, gaining 176 points, Sandra Kim won with the song “ J'aime la vie ”, bringing Belgium the first ever victory in the competition.

Later, when it turned out that Sandre was not 15 years old, as announced, but only 13, Swiss television asked the organizing committee to disqualify the song, but this step was not a success. This event was the reason for the introduction of strict rules in 1989: participants under the age of 16 years are not allowed to participate in the competition.

Television of the USSR in a separate program about the competition May 30, 1986 ^[1] . included performances of 12 participants from Yugoslavia, the Netherlands, Turkey, Cyprus, France, Spain, Switzerland, Denmark, Ireland, Luxembourg, Germany, Belgium.
