Provelosaurus americanus (lat.) Is a species of pareiasaurs from the Middle Permian of Brazil. Araujo was originally described in 1985 under the name Pareiasaurus americanus . The generic name Provelosaurus was given to him in 1997. Known from the locations of Acegua and Posto Queimado for two skulls. The skull from the second location is 17.2 cm long, which is about 40 percent less than the length of the holotype skull. This pareiasaur inhabited together with Tiarajudens eccentricus and Pampaphoneus biccai in a period of time equivalent to the Tapinocephalus zone.
