Biography

Nikolai Bredikhin was born on September 22 ( October 5 ), 1917 in the Snytkino settlement (now within the city of Shchigry, Kursk Region ) into a peasant family. Since 1930, he lived with his family in Shchigry. He graduated from the seven classes of the railway school, then the driver's courses at the vocational school at the mechanical plant, worked as a driver in the agricultural technical school . In 1943 he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. He was trained as a tank driver, after which he was sent to the front of the Great Patriotic War. By January 1945, the foreman of the Guard, Nikolai Bredikhin, was the tank driver of the 62nd Guards Tank Brigade of the 10th Guards Volunteer Tank Corps of the 4th Panzer Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front . Distinguished during the liberation of Poland [1] .

On January 13, 1945, during the crossing of the Charn River, Nida Bredikhin was the first to cross the river in his unit. Skillfully maneuvering, using the terrain and natural shelters, Bredikhin ensured the tank crew the successful completion of the combat mission. In the battle, the tankers destroyed 5 Tiger and Panther tanks, 1 self-propelled guns Ferdinand , 2 armored personnel carriers , 21 vehicles and more than 70 enemy soldiers and officers. By their actions, the tankers ensured the success of the crossing of the entire brigade. On January 24, 1945, during the battle for crossing the Oder, Bredikhin was one of the first to withdraw his tank to the river in the vicinity of the city of Steinau (now Szinawa , Poland). Having broken through the bridge to the west coast, Bredikhin saved the bridge from being blown up, which allowed the main forces of the tank battalion to be promoted. In the battle he was wounded, but did not leave the battlefield [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 10, 1945, for the "exemplary performance of command assignments and the courage and heroism shown in battles with the German invaders" of the guard, foreman Nikolai Bredikhin was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 7381 [1] .

In 1945 he joined the CPSU (b) . After the war, Bredikhin was demobilized, after which he returned to his homeland. He worked in the traffic police of the Kursk region as a senior inspector of road supervision. July 7, 1966 Bredikhin died of the effects of frontal wounds. He was buried in Kursk at the Nikitsky cemetery [1] .

He was also awarded the Order of the Red Banner and World War 1 degree, as well as a number of medals [1] .
