The 2nd Academy Award Ceremony was held on April 3, 1930 at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles , from where a live radio broadcast was conducted. Films nominated between August 1, 1928 and July 31, 1929 were nominated. There have been many changes compared to the first award. This year, only the winners are exactly known. Nominees were not officially indicated, and those presented here are just an assumption based on reports from members of the academy. The number of nominations decreased to seven [1] . This year is the only one in the history of the ceremony when no film has received more than one award. The film "Patriot" was the only silent film among applicants for the title of "Best Film" and the last silent film nominated in this category [2] .
