Body length 33–34 cm; weight is about 340 g. The main color of the plumage is green. The forehead, front of the head, throat and lower body are lighter. The nape and the entire upper side of the body are dark green, with a gray-blue border at the ends. The folds of the wings are yellow or yellow-orange. Beak is gray-yellow. The iris is orange-red. Male and female are colored the same.
It lives in Ecuador and Colombia , in the north-west of Venezuela .
They inhabit subtropical and tropical moist forests , lowlands, subtropical and tropical moist mountain forests up to an altitude of 3500 m above sea level. These are shy and restless parrots. Their voice can be heard in the early morning hours and in the evening, when they fly to the valleys to feed and return for the night to the mountain forests. Very little is known about their life in nature.
Not numerous.
The nesting period lasts from February to June. Nests are arranged in hollow trees high from the ground. There are 2-4 eggs in the clutch .
