In 1926 he graduated from the Moscow Agricultural Academy named after KA Timiryazev . In 1927, an external student graduated from the Mathematics Department of the Physics and Mathematics Faculty of Moscow State University .
Since 1927 - on the teaching work. In 1929-1932 he headed the department of theoretical mechanics of the Moscow Institute of Chemical Technology. DI Mendeleev . He was the youngest professor in the entire history of the institute. [one]
In 1932-1949 he was a professor at Moscow State University (he worked first at the department of theoretical mechanics). In 1941, he organized the Department of Applied Mechanics at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University (together with B. V. Bulgakov ) and was from 1941 to 1944. and. about. Head of this department. I read the annual course “Applied Mechanics”, which is mandatory for all mechanics students of Mekhmat [2] . Since 1942 - Professor of Moscow Aviation Institute
From 1937 he also worked at the Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the USSR Academy of Sciences ; head of the department of the theory of mechanisms and machines, 1938-1941 - deputy director for science.
In 1939 he was elected a corresponding member, and in 1946 - a full member of the USSR Academy of Sciences.
During the Great Patriotic War, he was chairman of the All-Union Scientific Society of Mechanical Engineers (VNITOMASH). Since 1947 - Deputy Chairman, since 1966 - Chairman of the All-Union Society "Knowledge" .
