Eurovision Song Contest 1980 became the 25th Eurovision song contest . It was held on April 19, 1980 in the city of The Hague ( Netherlands ), in the local Palace of Congresses. Having won in 1978 and hosted the 1979 contest, Israel refused to hold it for the second time in a row. After the refusals of Spain and the UK, the Netherlands agreed to hold the tender, subject to a reduction in the cost of organizing it.
